In
1985 the North Dakota Legislative Assembly passed legislation
to license respiratory care practitioners and in 2005
the Legislative Assembly passed legislation to license
registered polysomnographic technologists.
The Governor of North Dakota appoints a state board of respiratory care and it is the responsibility of that board to license respiratory care practioners and registered polysomnograhic technologists within the state of North Dakota.
The Licensure Board consists of 7 members to include four (4) Respiratory Therapists, one (1) Physician, one (1) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, and one (1) Member from the General Public. Each of these appointed board members serves a 3 year term.
